Emily Heisig
Emily Heisig is the Council’s Senior Vice President, Communications & Federal Affairs, and she oversees the Washington, D.C. office. Emily oversees all communications and marketing activities for the Council, as well as the Council’s policy advocacy and initiatives. She works closely with the Washington staff to build and maintain relationships with New England Congressional offices, to communicate the Council’s positions to members of Congress, and to develop and execute programming for NEC members in Washington, including the Council’s Annual Washington Leaders’ Conference, as well the Capital Conversations and Coffee with the Chief series.
Prior to joining the Council in 2010, Emily served as the Director of Communications to Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley for three and a half years. In this capacity, she served as the chief on-the-record spokesperson for one of the most active Attorney General’s Offices in the nation. During her time in the office, she handled media relations and other public communications on a wide range of issues and initiatives, including the subprime lending crisis, commercial and residential energy costs, cybersecurity, health care cost containment, civil rights, and environmental protection.
Earlier in her career, Emily served as the Press Secretary in the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office for over five years. During her tenure in the District Attorney’s Office, Emily oversaw media relations for a number of high-profile cases, including homicide and child abuse cases that garnered national and international media attention.
Emily is a graduate of Boston University’s College of Communication. She and her husband Chris reside in Middletown, Delaware, with their two rescue dogs.
