Michael Curry of the MA League of Community Health Centers, Cathleen Finn of Verizon, and Dan Rivera of MassDevelopment to Join Council Board
BOSTON (April 27, 2021) – The New England Council, a non-partisan alliance of businesses, academic and health institutions, and public and private organizations, is pleased to announce the election of three respected leaders from the New England business community to serve on its Board of Directors. The Council’s Board of Directors voted to elect the new directors at its recent virtual meeting. The newly elected Board of Director members are:

More about the new Directors:
Michael Curry assumed the position of President & CEO of the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers in January 2021. He first joined the organization in 2008 and has served as Senior Vice President & General Counsel, and most recently, as Deputy CEO. Earlier in his career, Michael was a Senior Policy Advisor at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. He is a past President of the Boston Branch of the NAACP, and currently serves as the co-chair of The New England Council’s Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Committee. He is a graduate of Macalester College and received his J.D. from New England School of Law.
Cathleen Finn currently serves as Community Engagement Director at Verizon in Boston. Cathleen joined Verizon in July 2019 after serving as New England Corporate Citizenship Manager at IBM, during which time she was also actively engaged with The New England Council. In her current role at Verizon, Cathleen leads civic engagement in Greater Boston, addressing community needs while developing awareness and support for Verizon’s efforts to bring the next generation of wireless technology to communities. She received her undergraduate degree from Boston University, and holds a Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution from UMass Boston.
Dan Rivera was named the President & CEO of MassDevelopment, the Commonwealth’s economic development and finance authority, in December 2020. He previously served for seven years as the Mayor of Lawrence, MA, during which time the city saw significant commercial development, record new units of housing, and tens of millions of dollars invested in economic development planning and projects. Earlier in his career, Dan held various positions in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Dan is a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served in the first Gulf War, Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and a graduate of the UMass Amherst and Suffolk University’s Sawyer School of Management, where he earned his MBA.
