University of Massachusetts Boston Launches MathWorks Scholars Program
New England Council member, the University of Massachusetts Boston, recently announced it will be receiving a $1 million grant from MathWorks, to provide scholarships to students from underserved communities. The MathWorks Scholars Program intends to provide 20 full-time undergraduate UMass Boston students with half-tuition and renewable scholarships, starting in the new school year.
In addition to the grant, MathWorks will provide paid internships, including travel stipends, to UMass Boston students.
“We are deeply grateful to MathWorks for their partnership and their vision in developing this important program. As Boston’s only public research university, our guiding lights are ‘access’ and ‘opportunity’ and the MathWorks Scholars Program is the exemplar of how we can collaborate with like-minded organizations to provide students with both” said UMass Boston Chancellor Marcelo Suárez-Orozco.
The New England Council commends UMass Boston and MathWorks for their commitment to increasing educational access and helping students to reach their full potential.
