Turkish Consulate General of Boston and Turkish Airlines send earthquake relief

New England council members, the Turkish Consulate General of Boston and Turkish Airlines, have partnered to send five tons of aid material to Turkey and Syria after the devastating 7.8 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes on February 6, 2023. These catastrophic earthquakes have caused over 24,000 deaths, tens of thousands injured and millions of people displaced from their homes.
In addition to the aid materials, the Turkish Consulate General of Boston hosted diplomats from around the world, who all signed a book expressing their sympathy. Funding from a classical Turkish concert also went to nonprofits dedicated to victim recovery efforts.
The Consulate is asking for donations of new disaster relief materials such as tents, blankets, sleeping bags, floor mats, bed chairs, heaters, generators, portable restrooms, and shipping containers. The drop-off addresses are:
Turkish Consulate General: 31 St. James Ave. Boston, MA 02116
Freerange Market: 325 Rivers Edge Dr. Medford, MA 02155
The New England Council would like to commend the Turkish Consulate General of Boston and Turkish Airlines for their generosity.
