Tufts University releases Economic Impact Report
New England Council member, Tufts University, has recently released an Economic and Community Impact Report, sharing the school’s contributions to the local and national economy through a variety of methods, including employment, financial aid, research funding, and more.
Some highlights from the report include $1.2 billion in economic impact in Massachusetts, 11,673 jobs supported locally, and $293.2 million in economic impact generated from research. Tufts also reported that 100,000 animals are cared for annually through Tuft’s veterinary school, and $28 million is saved annually by community members through discounted dental services at the Tufts Dental Clinic.
“In order for Tufts to fulfill its vision of making a positive difference in the world through education and discovery, it’s essential for us to measure our impacts, including effects on the economies we touch and the clinical care we provide to our neighbors,” said Tufts President Sunil Kumar. “Tufts faculty, staff, students, and alumni can feel proud of how they’ve contributed to the outcomes documented in our first university-wide economic impact study. We look ahead to expanding these benefits in the future.”
