Sanofi Receives Facility of the Year Award for Framingham Site
NEC member Sanofi Genzyme has received acclaim for its Framingham, MA, pharmaceutical facility. The International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering awarded Sanofi the Facility of the Year Award for the facility’s innovative design, construction, and operation.
Sanofi opened the Framingham facility in October 2019, and the site launched its first commercially approved product in September 2020. According to Sanofi, the Framingham facility is one of the first digital facilities to make use of paperless and data-driven manufacturing technologies, thus reducing the time to move from labs to production for products. The facility is also significantly eco-friendlier than the industry standard, with huge reductions in water consumption, chemical usage, and CO2 emissions.
