Roxbury Community College names new president
New England Council member, Roxbury Community College has chosen Jonathan Jefferson as its new president, who will start on July 1. The decision was unanimous among the college’s board of trustees and approved by the state Board of Higher Education.
Jefferson has spent most of his career in higher education and was most recently the chief academic officer and provost at Lesley University. He has also been the director of the Institute for Leadership at the US Coast Guard Academy in Connecticut and a business school dean at Clark Atlanta University and Albany State University. Jefferson has a bachelor’s in mathematics, a master’s in both engineering and science and a doctorate in management. He will succeed Jackie Jenkins Scott, who has served as interim president after previous president Valerie Roberson left.
