Rockland Trust donates $10K to Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence
The New England Council member, Rockland Trust Co., recently donated $10,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence through its charitable foundation. The grant will allow the club to expand its food security program, which provides meals to children and teenagers across the eight clubhouse locations in Providence. This program is extremely necessary during the summer when school-provided meals are not available.
The program consists of breakfast for 595 children, lunch for 605, dinner for 1,085 youth and healthy snacks for another 300+ kids. In 2021, the club served more than 100,000 meals through this program. In addition, it helps provide families in need with nutrition education and tips for living a healthy life. The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation grant will help fund these meals, as the program only receives funding from the federal government to provide two meals a day. It is the fourth year Rockland has supported the program and allowed for the introduction of a third meal and snacks into the program.
“We are honored to support the Boys and Girls Clubs of Providence in providing programs and services which enable children to flourish,” said Edward H. Seksay, President and Chair of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation. “Daily, nutritious meals helps remove hunger as an impediment to children and teens striving to reach their full potential.”
The New England Council would like to commend Rockland Trust Co. for its charitable donations to organizations allowing for meals for children in need.
