Rhode Island College launches pipeline program to develop fundraising professionals
New England Council member Rhode Island College (RIC) has announced the launch of its Fundraising Apprenticeship Specialization program. This program is designed to turn its participants into professionally trained fundraisers and is in collaboration with the Rhode Island College Foundation, the Rhode Island Foundation and the Rhode Island chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. The program will give three participants the opportunity to take coursework on fundraising campaigns, operations, budgeting and other related areas in a one-year program.
Program participants will have the opportunity to become members of the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ state charter and will be provided with networking and mentorship in the fundraising world. With an increase in fundraising professionals in Rhode Island, RIC believes it can help the state’s nonprofit community, aiding organizations with fundraising and boosting philanthropy efforts.
When sharing his thoughts on the program, RIC President Frank D. Sanchez said that the program and those who become fundraising professionals will “amplify” the social and economic strength of the state’s nonprofit community. Rhode Island Foundation CEO and President Neil D. Steinberg further emphasized the benefits of RIC’s efforts, stating, “Investing in a well-trained, diverse community of fundraisers is very important to build philanthropy for all in Rhode Island. Doing so will lead to better, more inclusive and equitable outcomes for us all.”
The New England Council commends Rhode Island College for its work to strengthen Rhode Island’s nonprofit community and bolster philanthropic efforts within the state.
