QCC using state grant to help push students into biomanufacturing
New England Council member, Quinsigamond Community College (QCC), has received a new $50,000 grant to provide biomanufacturing training to students. This grant comes from Worcester incubator Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives and the Massachusetts Office of Business Development, according to a press release last Tuesday.
The funding will go toward QCC’s Fundamentals of Biomanufacturing pilot program, which is meant to “provide students the necessary training for an entry-level position within the industry.” When speaking about this grant and the benefit it will bring to the biomanufacturing workforce, QCC President Luis Pedraja said, “Biomanufacturing jobs are increasing exponentially in our region and programs such these offer a unique way for people to quickly upskill and reskill, so they can enter a field that is rich with opportunities.”
The New England Council congratulates Quinsigamond Community College on receiving this grant and looks forward to how QCC will use the funding to benefit its students and the biomanufacturing workforce.
