President of Johnson & Wales Providence to join NAICU board
Marie Bernardo-Sousa, President of the Providence campus of New England Council member, Johnson & Wales University, has been appointed to the board of directors of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU).
The board, which regulates the agenda for the entire association, will play an important role in influencing federal policy on private, not-for-profit universities. President Bernardo-Sousa will serve for three years, as a representative for all 6 New England states, immediately assuming the role of an advocate for the entire region.
“It is an honor and privilege to serve on the NAICU Board of Directors,” said Bernardo-Sousa. “I will ensure JWU and the region’s other independent colleges and universities will have a voice in Washington when important higher education policy decisions are made”.
The New England Council congratulates Johnson & Wales University and President Marie Bernardo-Sousa on this appointment.
