Pan-Mass Challenge raises $75 million for cancer research
The Pan-Mass Challenge, a cross-state charity bicycle ride, raised $75 million for New England Council member Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The new goal sets the total amount raised from the charity event to $1 billion since 1980.
“This year’s PMC gift marks an incredible milestone in its 45-year history,” said PMC founder and executive director Billy Starr. “We have demonstrated the impact cycling and fundraising together can achieve, but our work is not done. We’re setting our sights on the next billion as we pedal ‘Closer by the Mile’ toward a world without cancer.”
Thousands of cyclists attended the fundraiser, bicycling for 211 miles across Massachusetts, making it one of the biggest athletic fundraisers in the world. The event also had a total of 3,500 volunteers in attendance.
The New England Council congratulates the Dana-Farber Institute for this charitable gift from the Pan-Mass Challenge.
