Ørsted Wind Power Names New North American Head
NEC member Ørsted Wind Power has named David Hardy as its new CEO of North American operations. Hardy is the first US-born executive to head an Ørsted region and will replace Thomas Brostrøm.
Hardy joined Ørsted in March 2020, and previously served in senior leadership positions for wind energy companies Senvion and Vestas. Hardy also has experience in commercial leadership positions at General Electric. Hardy is a Navy veteran and served for over eight years in the submarine community. Ørsted is the largest offshore wind developer in the United States, with six project sites equaling nearly 3,000 megawatts of energy development.
“I’ve long recognized the potential of offshore wind to transform our country’s energy landscape. After working with this team over the past seven months, even in the midst of a global pandemic, I am more confident than ever in Ørsted’s ability to renew and revitalize America’s economy,” said Hardy. “There are countless individuals who are looking for not only new jobs, but also a sustainable way of life and a thriving planet. Ørsted can uniquely fulfil all these needs. I will work tirelessly with our team to deliver on these promises to all stakeholders and to create a future we can all be proud of.”
The New England Council congratulates David Hardy on his new executive position at Ørsted Wind and Power, and looks forward to working with him in his new role. Read more from Ørsted’s press release.
