Ørsted announces new CEO amid a changing renewable energy market

New England Council member, Ørsted, announced new top leadership this month, with former Deputy CEO and Chief Commercial Officer Rasmus Errboe replacing Mads Nipper as the new Group President and CEO. As an industry leader in offshore wind and one of the largest renewable energy companies in the world, President Trump’s halt on federal permits and leasing areas for offshore wind projects presented new challenges to Ørsted’s U.S.-based business this year.
Ørsted’s Annual Report shows that it is adapting to market developments and most of its projects are progressing according to plan. Recently facing significant financial setbacks and a shifting renewable energy landscape under the new administration, Ørsted stated it is making fundamental changes to offset the increasingly challenging situations for the offshore wind industry, especially with electricity demand projected to rise in the Northeast region.
“I’m honored and humbled to step into the role of CEO of a company I’ve proudly served for the past 13 years,” Errboe said. “. . . Ørsted has a strong foundation with unique capabilities. I’m looking forward to taking the lead on the transformation necessary to navigate the headwinds that Ørsted and our industry currently face. Offshore wind remains crucial for the green transition, and we’re deeply committed to pursuing our vision of a world that runs entirely on green energy.”
The New England Council extends its congratulations to CEO Errboe and the Ørsted team.
