NEC Urges Department of Education to Delay Financial Value Transparency and Gainful Employment Rules
The New England Council recently sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of Education Migue Cardona urging the U.S. Department of Labor to delay the implementation of Financial Value Transparency and Gainful Employment regulations until July 2025.
In its letter, the Council stressed that while schools and families await further clarification from the Department, it should be delayed until July 1, 2025, and the first batch of reports is due on July 31, 2025. Given the past and existing delays with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process, and the need for institutions to package student aid properly, the Council believes that the primary focus at this time should be ensuring the smoothest FAFSA process possible to help students best decide where to pursue their postsecondary education.
