NEC Endorses Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal
Council Sends Letter to Senators Expressing Support for $1T Bill
In a letter to the region’s Senate delegation, The New England Council has endorsed the bipartisan infrastructure legislation currently pending before the U.S. Senate. The proposal would authorize some $1 trillion in infrastructure investments, ranging from traditional transportation infrastructure such as roads, bridges, rail, ports and airports, to critical water and energy infrastructure, to broadband infrastructure to close the digital divide.
Read the NEC’s Letter to Senators
The New England Council has long advocated for federal investment in infrastructure as a means to address the region’s many infrastructure needs, while also creating jobs, driving innovation, and stimulating economic growth. In a letter sent to each member of the New England Senate delegation, the Council encouraged the region’s Senators to support the wide-ranging bipartisan legislation that was released on Sunday, August 1, and which could be before the Senate for a vote this week. The Council noted that it had shared a set of comprehensive infrastructure investment priorities with the region’s Congressional delegation in 2020, many of which are included in the current proposal.
