NEC Calls on Congress to Extend Telehealth Flexibilities by Year’s End
In December 2024, the New England Council sent letters to the New England Congressional delegation urging them to support efforts to reauthorize telehealth flexibilities.
Congress has recognized the critical role of telehealth in health care delivery by expanding coverage during and after the COVID-19 public health emergency. Most recently, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 extended several Medicare telehealth flexibilities through December 31, 2024. Council members have highlighted that this is a pivotal time for telehealth policy, and the Committee was pleased to urge Congress to enact long-term legislation before the flexibilities expire later this year.
The letter to Congress builds upon the Council’s ongoing support for extending telehealth flexibilities, as outlined in a recent Op-Ed piece.
