Fitchburg State University nominates first woman president
The board of trustees at New England Council member, Fitchburg State University has recently nominated Donna Souder Hodge to be the 12th president of the university. Hodge currently serves as the vice president of operations and advancement at Colorado State University, Pueblo, and, if hired, would become the school’s first female president.
Hodge’s hiring depends on approval from the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and a successful contract negotiation. If hired, she will replace current president Richard Lapidus, who announced he would be stepping down last October. Hodge has been working at Colorado State University, Pueblo, since 2010 and holds a doctorate in rhetoric, a master’s degree in English from Texas Woman’s University, and a master’s degree in English and history from Texas A&M University Texarkana.
“I am honored and excited for the opportunity to join the Fitchburg State community,” Dr. Hodge said in a press release. “It was clear from my interactions with campus and community constituencies during the search process that Fitchburg State is a special place, and I look forward to being part of its continued progress and building upon its strong foundation.”
The New England Council would like to congratulate Dr. Hodge on this nomination.
