Boston Dynamics to supply Hyundai with “tens of thousands of robots” over the next few years

New England Council member, Boston Dynamics, recently announced new collaboration plans with the company’s owner, Hyundai Motor Group. The companies are expanding their partnership to produce more robots and help build up “vibrant robotics ecosystem” within the US.
The announcement came following Hyundai’s $21 billion U.S. investment commitment, including a $6 billion investment to “drive innovation and expand strategic partnerships with U.S. companies.” As part of this new commitment, Hyundai Motor Group will purchase tens of thousands of robots from Boston Dynamics over the next few years. These robots will help the Group further enhance its advanced manufacturing capabilities.
“Today marks a pivotal moment because with its commitment and support, Hyundai Motor Group will become our biggest customer. It will help us to build successful AI policies, and will also unlock the Group’s vast commercial relationships to help establish strategic customers for products like Stretch, entering into multi-lateral agreements in which we may deliver robots, trucks, and electric vehicles together,” said Boston Dynamics CEO, Robert Playter.
The New England congratulates Boston Dynamics on this innovative collaboration.
