Avangrid Foundation awards $400,000 to wildlife organizations

New England Council member, Avangrid, has awarded $400,000 in grants through its Avangrid Foundation to wildlife rehabilitation organizations across 12 U.S. states. The Avangrid Foundation, the philanthropic arm of energy company Avangrid, will distribute these funds to 19 organizations through its Wildlife Rehabilitation Program, which has granted more than $1 million nationwide since its inception in 2016.
“Supporting biodiversity is a central area of focus at the Avangrid Foundation. This year’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Program grantees are providing critical care to wildlife and important education in our communities on how to protect wildlife and their habitats,” said Pablo Colón, director of corporate citizenship and executive director of the Avangrid Foundation. “I’m excited for the growth we’ve seen in this program over the last several years and look forward to seeing the impact that these projects will have not only on wildlife but in the communities we serve.”
The funds will support a wide range of efforts, including enhancing operational capabilities, building new facilities and training programs, and providing food and medical supplies for clinics. This year’s grantees include the Wildlife Rehabilitators Association of Rhode Island, Beardsley Zoo and Sharon Audubon in Connecticut, the Center for Wildlife in Maine, and the National Marine Life Center in Massachusetts.
The New England Council commends Avangrid for its nationwide commitment to conservation and biodiversity and congratulates the Foundation’s program grantees.
