BOSTON – The New England Council has elected Paul Gentile of Shrewsbury, president and chief executive officer of the Cooperative Credit Union Association, to serve on its board of directors.

In January 2014, Mr. Gentile led the merger of the Massachusetts CU League, New Hampshire CU League and CU Association of Rhode Island into the Cooperative Credit Union Association. He was an executive vice president with CUNA based in Washington, D.C., and served as president and CEO of the New Jersey Credit Union League. Mr. Gentile also served as the editor and publisher of Credit Union Times, a national weekly publication.

At a recent meeting in Boston, the board, chaired by John Hailer, CEO of Natixis Global Asset Management, also elected Jay Curley of Beacon Health Options and Mark Kalpin of WilmerHale as new directors. The council is a nonpartisan alliance of businesses, academic and health institutions, and public and private organizations.
