U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen touted the importance of the federal transportation bill Friday as she spoke to the New England Council at the Bedford Village Inn.
She also said the House should kick it into gear, following the Senate’s lead, in order to fund critical transportation projects in New Hampshire and around the country.
In New Hampshire, Interstate 93 widening is one of the projects depending on the bill, she said.
“This is a bill that puts people back to work,” Shaheen said. “For every billion dollars we spend on infrastructure projects, 27,000 people are supported by those investments.”
She called it “a no-brainer,” and noted there may be progress this week.
In the second video, Senator Shaheen talks about debt and deficit challenges, and the burden that uncertainty carries for businesses.
