The New England Council’s 2012 Annual Spring Event in Washington, DC, was easily our biggest and best to date. Well over 200 New England Council members representing all six states gathered in our nation’s capitol on March 28th and 29th for a fantastic lineup of events.
White House Briefing – We kicked off the Annual Spring Event with a briefing by Obama Administration officials at the White House. It was standing room only in the South Terrace Auditorium of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building as NEC members heard from White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew, SBA Administrator Karen Mills, Deputy Director of the National Economic Council Brian Deese, and Ambassador Demetrios Marantis. Capitol Hill Reception – On Wednesday evening, NEC members gathered in the historic Kennedy Caucus Room in the Russell Senate Office Building for our popular annual Capitol Hill Reception. Most members of the New England Congressional delegation attended, as did many members of their staffs. The reception was a great opportunity for NEC members to network with each other and with the New England delegation. Click here to view photos of the Capitol Hill Reception.
Congressional Breakfast – At our annual Congressional Breakfast on Thursday morning, the NEC honored the four retiring members of the New England delegation with lifetime achievement awards. Congressmen Barney Frank and John Olver were on hand to accept their awards, and Senators Joe Lieberman and Olympia Snow were represented by their Chiefs of Staff. Following the Congressional Breakfast, several of our policy committees gathered for meetings with members of Congress and Administration officials to discuss issues specific to their sector.
