Wex Names CEO as New Company Chair

Council member Wex Inc. has named their current President and CEO, Melissa Smith, as the new board chair. The Portland-based provider of corporate payment solutions operates in more than 10 countries and has over 4,900 associates around the world.

Ms. Smith’s appointment by Wex’s Board of Directors became effective on September 12, 2019. Ms. Smith has served as President of the company since 2013 and became CEO and a board member in 2014. Previous CEO and President Michael Dubyak is stepping down as chair after serving for the past ten years. Mr. Dubyak has been a part of the company since it was a start-up and will continue to sit on the board. Ms. Smith and Mr. Dubyak have worked closely together over the years to transform the way Wex operates.

“As we transition the leadership of the Board, I am confident Melissa will serve as Chair with the same level of integrity and commitment that she has brought to the Board as a director and to her leadership of the company as our president and CEO,” said Mr. Dubyak.

The Council wishes Ms. Smith continued success in her new position at Wex and looks forward to working with her further.
