USS Constitution Museum Highlighted for Model Ship Exhibit

NEC member The USS Constitution Museum was featured in a Boston Globe article commemorating its hosting of the Masters of Miniature: Model Ship Show.

The show, which will run at the Charlestown museum through February 29, includes about 40 different handcrafted model ships from 19 builders in the USS Constitution Model Shipwright Guild. While the participants can choose to be judged, the show is also used as a showcase for the shipbuilders to show off their finished product. Visitors to the show—last year, the show drew 20,000 over seven weeks—can vote for their favorite model, attend workshops on the craft, and even participate in scavenger hunts.

“Visitors love [the exhibit]. A lot of people walk in and are very pleasantly surprised to see the model show,” Harrie Slootbeek, the museum’s collections and exhibits manager, said.

NEC is proud to see the USS Constitution Museum engage with and educate the community, and the country, on its history. Read the Boston Globe article here.
