UMass Memorial Health Care and Shields Health Care Team Up

UMass Memorial Health Care and Shields Health Care Group-both NEC members- are planning to build a surgery center in Shrewsbury, MA. UMass Memorial Health Care is the teaching hospital of the University of Massachusetts’ Medical School.

The ambulatory surgery center will be owned and operated by both organizations under the name Healthcare Enterprises LLC. The main focus of the 40,000 square foot center will be orthopedic services.

After Shrewsbury selectmen voted to send a letter of support for the project to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Shrewsbury Town Manager Daniel Morgado said, “They think it’s a great project and something that will support the greater Worcester and Shrewsbury community.”

The New England Council congratulates UMass Memorial Health Care and Shields Health Care on this exciting new facility and applauds them for their dedication to the health of New Englanders.
