As president of Becker College, Dr. Johnson is credit for making the school more competitive and entrepreneurial. Under Johnson’s term as president, enrollment increased and the school’s reputation improved, as illustrated by Becker College being named by The Princeton Review as one of the “best institutions for undergraduate education” for five consecutive years. In his new role as chancellor, UMass President Martin T. Meehan has said he wants Johnson to work on increasing enrollment, improving fundraising, and expanding UMass Dartmouth’s role in the regional economy.
“Robert Johnson is an accomplished, visionary leader with an entrepreneurial spirit and a proven commitment to student success,” said UMass President Martin T. Meehan, an NEC Board Member. “He has developed innovative strategies that have revitalized institutions and transformed lives, and I am confident he will help UMass Dartmouth reach new levels of excellence.”
