This donation build on the $3 million dollars the foundation donated in 2013 and brings the total amount given by the foundation since the 2009 launch of its healthy aging initiative to an impressive $13 million. This initiative focuses on the physical, mental, and emotional well being of those 60 . The Tufts Health Plan Foundation hopes to improve the overall lives of the aging population.  When selecting grant recipients, the foundation selected organizations that have programs that focus in health and wellness, purposeful engagement, empowerment, and capacity building.

“By focusing our grant making on healthy aging, we’ve been able to create a thoughtful pattern of giving that helps older adults in our communities live more meaningful lives,” said NEC Board Member Jim Roosevelt, president of the foundation and CEO of Tufts Health Plan.

The grants distributed by Tufts Health Plan Foundation help contribute to happy and healthy lives of older adults in communities throughout our region. The New England Council thanks the Tufts Health Plan Foundation for their generous donations to a variety of non-profit organizations.
