New England Council member Suffolk Construction was recently awarded a $1 billion contract to build the new Wynn Resort Casino in Everett, Mass. The contract is the largest in the company’s history.
The project will include a 24-story glass tower that will house the resort’s more than 600 hotel rooms, as well as gambling halls, a spa, meeting space, and retail and dining options. In addition, Suffolk will construct a boardwalk area overlooking the Mystic River. The resort and casino will be one of the largest private construction projects ever built in Massachusetts and is scheduled to open in late 2018.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Suffolk’s chief executive, John F. Fish. “To me, it is the crown jewel of our portfolio.” Fish also said that his company plans to partner with many union and minority contractors and subcontractors on the project, which is expected to create about 4,000 construction jobs.
The New England Council congratulates Suffolk on its newest and largest project.
