Suffolk Construction Hold ‘Virtual Groundbreaking’
On September 29th, 2016, Suffolk Construction, a NEC member, held a virtual groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of its own headquarters in Boston, MA.
Instead of a traditional groundbreaking, executives and officials used virtual reality headsets to see a rendering of the building being built. With each virtual scoop of the shovel, more of the building appeared. The ceremony demonstrates the latest from Suffolk’s innovation lab, which is working on new methods for tackling large construction projects.
The New England Council congratulates Suffolk Construction on continuing to use technology to innovate in the construction industry. Read more in The Boston Globe.
