Stop & Shop Raises $29 Million in Hunger Relief Donations
The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company—a New England Council member—recently announced that charitable donations from customers, vendors, and associates to neighboring community organizations surpassed $29 million in 2012. This announcement was coupled with an additional promise to allocate $6 million in “Fighting Child Hunger’’ grants through its Our Family Foundation.
Based in Quincy, Massachusetts, the supermarket chain has expanded to more than 131 stores in Massachusetts alone. Collectively, there are over 400 Stop & Shop stores across Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York and New Jersey.
As the company’s presence throughout New England continues to grow, so does its steadfast commitment to combating hunger and promoting health in local communities. The New England Council congratulates Stop & Shop Supermarket Company on the success of its most recent philanthropic efforts!
