SNHU Partners with Salesforce to Offer College Credit Through Free Online Training

Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), a Council member, has partnered with Salesforce to design an online, no-cost program that offers students college credit. SNHU currently enrolls over 90,000 online students, making it one of the nation’s largest online universities.

SNHU will partner directly with Salesforce’s online learning platform, Trailhead, to develop this program. Trailhead was launched in 2014 to provide online tutorials about coding on Salesforce’s widely utilized platform. The two organizations began talks two years ago after Trailhead learned about SNHU’s important work in developing degree programs for refugees. The University recognized that Trailhead fits within their vision of higher education, understanding that students learn in a variety of ways and places. The partnership offers SNHU students the opportunity to earn free college credit by completing admin and developer badges on Trailhead’s training site. The University recognizes coding as a high-demand skill useful in multiple disciplines, making their students more qualified when entering the job market.

“Industry and higher education can’t be siloed anymore. We have to work together to offer hands-on application of new knowledge while providing validation for learners in a way that speaks to employers,” said University President Paul LeBlanc. “This is a great way for Trailhead learners to get credit for their work and apply it towards a college degree by becoming a student at SNHU. And it’s a great way for existing SNHU students to learn through hands-on work and save some tuition money along the way.”

The Council applauds SHNU for their continued commitment to expanding access to higher education and providing students with non-traditional learning opportunities.
