Dr. Lynn Perry Wooten has been named the new president of Council member Simmons University. She brings years of experience in higher education instruction and leadership to her new role.
Previously the Dean of Cornell University’s School of Applied Economics and Management, President-elect Wooten hopes her experiences at all levels of higher education will help her move Simmons forward as the industry rapidly changes. President-elect Wooten also aims to re-imagine higher education at Simmons in a post-pandemic environment, addressing the cost and delivery of education at the school.
“Higher education is never going to be the same,” she said. “I’m being very reflective about the COVID-19 generation. “I don’t have a choice (to ask if) the glass is half empty or half full. We have to see it as half full,” she says. “We survived in 1918. We’ll survive in 2020. And I want to go beyond survival.”
The Council congratulates Dr. Wooten on her new role and wishes her and Simmons University the best as they build a better future for the university. The Boston Business Journal reports.
