New England Council Member Rapid7 has entered into a contract to acquire Virginia-based cloud protection company, DivvyCloud Corporation.
Rapid7 offers software for companies that detects online attackers and provides data security response. The merger with DivvyCloud will be Rapid7’s largest acquisition since its founding 20 years ago. The company will work with DivvyCloud employees to extend protection to the cloud, a necessity when social distancing requires companies to adjust to a new, remote way of work. The merger will close in the second quarter of 2020, and Rapid7 plans on keeping a majority of DivvyCloud employees.
Speaking of making the acquisition amid the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting shift to remote work, Rapid 7 CEO Corey Thomas said, “With that backdrop, we said, ‘This makes even more sense now,’ as more people are accelerating their investments in the cloud, as they build experiences to compensate for the fact that many organizations can no longer rely on person-to-person interactions.”
The Council congratulates Rapid7 on their growth through this key acquisition and thanks them for the important work they do to keep companies safe online. Read more in the Boston Business Journal.
