Providence College Welcomes New Provost

New England Council member Providence College has announced Sean F. Reid has been named the college’s new provost and senior vice president of academic affairs. Reid will assume his new position on July 1, 2020.

Reid will succeed Dr. Hugh F. Lena III, who has been chief academic officer at Providence College for 16 years. Before coming to Providence College, Reid served as dean of the School of Business at Ithaca College for five years, and has held faculty appointments at the University of New Haven, Salisbury University, and Quinnipiac University. During his tenure at Ithaca, Reid is credited with reinvigorating the mission of the business school, updating the curriculum, and improving the first-year business experience for students.

“He has been an integral member of a similar team at Ithaca College and, as dean of their school of business, has played a major role in the growth of a thriving and substantive academic program at that institution,” said Rev. Kenneth R. Sicard, president-elect of Providence College. “Sean has been a key partner with Ithaca’s development and finance teams, in support not only of his own school, but of that college’s mission and purpose as a whole, and I anticipate that he will do the same here at Providence College. We welcome him and look forward to his arrival as provost.”

The New England Council congratulates Mr. Reid on his new position and wishes him much success.  Read more from the Providence Business News and Providence College.
