Providence College Names New President

New England Council member Providence College (PC) has elected Father Kenneth R. Sicard as its thirteenth President. Founded in 1917, Providence College is the only college in the U.S. run by the Dominican Friars.

Father Sicard attended both undergraduate and graduate school at Providence College, earning his bachelor’s degree in accounting and master’s degree in business administration. Father Sicard has been a part of the college’s administration for the past 14 years, serving as Dean of Residence Life, Executive Vice President, and Treasurer. In these roles, Father Sicard acted as the President’s Chief of Staff, and provided oversight for PC’s general counsel to the divisions of athletics, marketing, mission and ministry, student affairs, human resources, and public safety. Father Sicard’s tenure as PC’s president will begin on July 1, 2020.

“The students, faculty, staff, and administration are all amazing,” said Father Sicard in an interview with the Providence College newspaper, “And it is a real blessing to be at a college like this.”

The Council congratulates Father Sicard on his new position and looks forward to working with him in the years ahead.
