P&G Gillette Funding National Recycling Program for Razorblades

P&G Gillette, an NEC member, has announced that it will fund a nationwide razor blade recycling program, regardless of the manufacturer of the razor blades. Aiming to keep as many razors out of landfills as possible, P&G is partnering with TerraCycle to recycle all brands of disposable razors, replaceable-blade cartridge units, and razor plastic packaging.

P&G Gillette has recently taken steps toward enhancedsocial responsibility, and this recycling effort is part of that shift. Customers will be able to recycle their razorblades in a variety of ways. Customers can collect their razorblades at home and ship them to TerraCycle directly, or take their razors to a drop off location. The collected razorblades will be recycled into products such as park benches, bike racks, pet food bowls, and recycling bins.

Gillette CEO Gary Coombe said, “We are very excited about our partnership with TerraCycle to offer recycling for Gillette, Venus, or any razor brand across the U.S. . . This is an important first step toward sustainable solutions for shaving products and the start of an exciting journey with Gillette and TerraCycle.”

The New England Council applauds P&G Gillette’s initiative on this issueand for encouraging sustainable business practices.
