Since 2001, Gillette has helped raise over $17 million for United Way through an annual fundraising campaign. These funds, along with employee volunteer work, help support the many program initiatives at United Way. Gillette and United Way share common goals, including fighting homelessness, decreasing the drop-out rate for students, and supporting children through increased childcare.
In addition, Gillette has worked with other P&G sites to collect basic household items like laundry detergent, deodorant and cleaning supplies that are packaged and distributed to families in need.
“The partnership between United Way and Gillette helps create educational and economic opportunity for thousands of children, youth and families in Greater Boston,” said Michael Durkin, president of United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley. “Gillette’s support of United Way enables our organization to provide high-quality early education to young children that promotes early literacy and social skills and early interventions to keep children developing on track.”
The New England Council thanks P&G Gillette and United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley for being an example of how a partnership between businesses and non-profits can have a profound effect on the community.
