New Member Spotlight: International Council of Shopping Centers
With over 70,000 members in more than 100 countries, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) is the global trade association of the shopping center industry. For almost 60 years, ICSC has worked to “advance the shopping center industry and to promote its role in the commercial distribution of consumer goods and services” in a variety of ways.
ICSC’s members come from all corners of the shopping center industry and include developers, property owners and investors, retailers, public officials, and more. The Council works to highlight the critical role shopping centers play in our economy as job creators and tax revenue generators. However, the Council also promotes the role shopping centers play as venues for engagement, discussion, and philanthropy within communities.
ICSC also develops and maintains educational and professional certification programs for members, advocates interests of the shopping center industry to governmental bodies at all levels, and hosts meetings and events to promote the exchange of ideas between members. The Council’s biggest event is its annual Real Estate Convention, better known as RECon, which attracts almost 40,000 attendees to Las Vegas from around the world.
The New England Council is glad to welcome the International Council of Shopping Centers and looks forward to their active participation on our Financial Services and Transportation Committees.
