New Balance Expanding with Sixth New England Factory

New Balance Athletics, Inc., a Council member, is moving forward with plans to build its sixth factory in New England. This factory will be the company’s first new manufacturing plant in two decades.

New Balance is set to open what it calls its ‘Factory of the Future’ in Methuen, MA, in 2020. This project is supported by the Economic Assistance Coordinating Council of Massachusetts, which has just approved $900,000 in state tax credits. The $33 million project will create 60 new jobs in the 80,000 square foot facility, focusing on testing advanced manufacturing techniques, 3-D printing, and research and development.

The NEC commends New Balance’s plans to open this facility and to continue the strong manufacturing legacy of New England.
