New Balance Breaks Ground on Multi-Sport Complex at Boston Landing

New England Council member New Balance Athletics, Inc. has broken ground on The TRACK at New Balance at Boston Landing, which will be a multi-sport athletic complex offering a pinnacle sports experience for athletes. Additionally, it will serve as a concert venue with The Bowery Presents, and as a New Balance Athletics Sports Research Lab.

There are many different facets to this project, including a 200-meter indoor track whose angle will be signed to make the track faster, as well as a hard court and field space to accommodate a variety of sports. The entire facility will be 20,000-square-feet and will be used for studying athletic performance and ways in which athletic apparel can be designed to improve performance and reduce injury. The facility will complement New Balance’s Sports Research lab in Lawrence, where the company employs biomechanists, physical therapists, and engineers.

Jim Davis, the Chairman of New Balance, said, “The TRACK at New Balance will set a new performance standard in professional and amateur sports due to its innovative design, location and amenities. . . Its incomparable level of sports excellence and competitive spirit will inspire athletes to perform at levels they have only dreamed of attaining, with one of the fastest and most technical tracks in the world, if not the fastest.”

The Council congratulates New Balance for this remarkable project, and for designing a facility that will provide so many benefits and uses to the community.
