NEC Welcomes Two New Staff Members

Chris Averill and Bonnie Edes join NEC staff

The New England Council is pleased to announce that Chris Averill has joined our staff as Policy and Special Projects Manager. In this newly-created role, Chris will be the primary staff liaison the Council’s Financial Services Committee, and will also lead the Council’s advocacy and initiatives on such issues as advanced manufacturing and tax policy. He will be based in the Council’s Washington, DC, office, but will also visit Boston regularly. Chris joins the Council after seven years on Capitol Hill, most recently serving as Communications Director to Rep. Sam Graves (R-MO) and previously serving as Communications Director to former Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-ME). Chris also previously held several policy positions on the staff of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. The Council is also pleased to welcome Bonnie Edes as full-time Special Assistant to the President & CEO in the Boston office. In this newly-created role, Bonnie will provide direct support to NEC President & CEO Jim Brett, in addition to other office administration duties. Bonnie joins the Council after working for 7 years at New England Cable News (NECN) where she served in several different roles, including Newsroom Manager, Assistant to the President and Founder, and Manager of Human Resources. Bonnie also was an original member of the Florida Marlins front office management staff, serving as the Director of Player Relations. Margery O’Donnell, who has served as part-time Executive Assistant to Jim Brett for the past 6 years, will now serve as Executive Coordinator. In her new role, Margery will continue to provide critical administrative and member services support in the Council’s Boston office.
