NEC Testifies About Manufacturing Report on Capitol Hill

Jim Brett Discusses New NEC-Deloitte Report at House Democratic Caucus Hearing

On July 28, 2015, New England Council President & CEO Jim Brett testified at the House Democratic Caucus’ “Make it in America: What’s Next?” hearing.  The hearing was the second in a series hosted by House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, five years after the House Democrats first launched their “Make it in America” agenda.

In his testimony, Jim shared with the panel – which included many members of the New England Congressional delegation – some of the key findings and recommendations of “Advanced to Advantageous: The Case for New England’s Manufacturing Revolution,” the new report release by the NEC and Deloitte Consulting earlier this year.  In particular, Jim highlighted the need to close the skills gap and to re-brand manufacturing as a thriving sector with great career potential.

You can watch Jim’s testimony above – his testimony begins around the 1:18 mark, or you can watch in online here.
