NEC Shares Concerns with Tax Reform Conference Committee

Council Outlines Key Concerns Related to Financial Services, Healthcare, and Higher Education Sectors

As a conference committee of Senators and Representatives works in the coming days to develop a compromise between the House and Senate tax reform bills, The New England Council weighed in with the members of the conference committee to highlight some concerns with the proposals.  Specifically, the Council shared with conferees some of the concerns that we have heard from our members in three key sectors: Financial Services, Healthcare and Higher Education.

On December 8, the Council sent a letter to each member of the conference committee, along with several documents that detail the concerns in each issue area:

In late November, the Council similarly weighed in with the New England Senate delegation as the Senate considered it’s version of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.  And earlier this year, before either the House or the Senate released any detailed proposals for tax reform, the Council released its “Principles for Effective Tax Reform,” which were shared with the entire New England delegation as well as the Administration.
