The students and staff at the John Winthrop Elementary School in Dorchester received an extra bonus on top of their field day celebration yesterday.  Mayor Tom Menino, Natixis Global Asset Management, and Boston Public Schools announced that Natixis is “adopting” the school and will provide financial and other support for diverse needs and programs at the school.

The agreement is apart of the new “adopt a school” program which gives private companies the opportunity to make a direct impact on individual Boston schools by providing  various outlets of assistance to enhance students learning potential and educational  environment. Mayor Menino believes  that the “commitment from Natixis Global Asset Management illustrates that the private sector believes in what our public schools are accomplishing, and is  willing to invest directly in the future of our pupils.”

John Hailer, CEO of Natixis Global Asset Management and Chairman of the New England Council Board is a big belieiver in community investment. “My entire career has been about making good investments, and I can’t think of a better one than providing support to the Boston Public Schools,” Mr. Hailer said yesterday.  Under the agreement Natixis will collaborate with the school to asses their technology needs and determine the most effective ways for Natixis to address those technology and teaching tool needs.  Natixis also plans play a hands-on role at the Winthrop School by establishing a student mentoring program and providing resources for additional teacher training programs, all facilitated by Natixis employees.

Laurie J. Carr, Principal of the John Winthrop Elementary school proclaims that “with the generous support from Natixis Global Asset Management under the “adopt a school” program, the possibilities for our students are incredibly exciting, and the potential for instructional innovation is unlimited.”

The NEC is proud to count Natixis among our members,  look forward to hearing success stories in the future!
