NEC Member Dassault Systemes Growing with New Acquisition
NEC member Dassault Systèmes is growing! A world leader in 3D design software the company announced this week its intent to purchase a leading software solutions manufacturer, Apriso, for $205 million. Dassault’s U.S. operations are based in Waltham, MA.
With close to 1,000 employees in Massachusetts alone, Dassault Systèmes is an international industry leader in 3D design technology. Dassault Systèmes is best known for services that provide businesses and people with the opportunity to explore virtual universes in which they can view a comprehensive model of their business, from idea to design, to production and global product availability. Notable clients including General Motors, Hitachi, Lockheed Martin, L’Oreal, Philip Morris International and Volvo CE, for example, utilize Dassault’s 3D platforms.
In integrating Apriso’s software and management capabilities into Dassault’s own procedures, the company hopes to be better equipped to expand its global portfolio and enrich their manufacturing operations. Specifically, Dassault Systèmes hopes to enhance its 3DEXPERIENCE platform’s virtual+reality capabilities for its consumers.
“This acquisition will merge 3DEXPERIENCE and Apriso’s solutions and deliver a new business experience to our customers,” said Bernard Charlès, President and CEO, Dassault Systèmes. “The question isn’t simply, ‘what is the next innovative idea?’ but rather ‘Can you produce your idea quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively? Can you excel in global business responsiveness and local production agility?’ These are the questions the 3DEXPERIENCE business platform answers.”
The transaction is subject to standard regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed by July 2013. The NEC congratulates Dassault on this exciting development!
