NEC Launching Advanced Manufacturing Working Group

Initial Meeting on October 1

Five years ago, the New England Council and Deloitte published a report titled “Reexamining advanced manufacturing in a networked world: Prospects for a resurgence in New England.”  This seminal study has helped promote this growing industry and contributed to changing the discussion on manufacturing in the region.  Additionally, since that time, the Obama Administration has begun establishing a nationwide network of advanced manufacturing centers, and stakeholders from across New England have been working together to secure one of these hubs.

Therefore, the New England Council is initiating an Advanced Manufacturing Working Group to look at various issues related to advanced manufacturing and to bring together Council members from across various sectors with an interest in strengthening the industry from a regional perspective. The goal for the working group is to provide a forum for discussion and information sharing among members and to identify policies and actions that the Council may wish to support, such as the push for an advanced manufacturing center in New England.

At the center of these efforts will be an update to the 2009 report, and working group members will play a key role in helping shape the scope, content, and dynamics of the updated study.  Members will have an opportunity to provide early feedback and input on the design of the report at this initial meeting.

We hope that you will consider joining us for our first meeting:
