Senator Whitehouse, Hill Staffers Talk Cyber Legislation
On September 24, 2013, the New England Council’s Technology Committee and Defense Working Group partnered to present, “Combating Cybersecurity Threats: Prospects for Congressional Action.” The event was hosted by NEC member Microsoft at the Microsoft Innovation & Policy Center in Washington, DC. Approximately 50 NEC members and guests representing a wide range of industries attended.
Following opening remarks from Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism, a panel of Congressional staff members discussed the outlook for legislative action on a range of cybersecurity issues. Eric Wenger, Policy Counsel at Microsoft moderated the discussion, with the following panelists:

Mike Hermann, Military Legislative Assistant, Office of Rep. Jim Langevin (D-RI)
John Williams, Majority General Counsel, Senate Commerce Committee
