NEC Energy & Environment Committee Meets with former FERC Commissioner Cheryl LaFleur

On January 6,, 2020, the New England Council’s Energy & Environment Committee hosted a meeting featuring a discussion with Cheryl LaFleur, a former member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The meeting was hosted by Committee Chairman Mark LaFleur of Holland & Knight at the firm’s Boston office.

At the meeting, Commissioner LaFleur discussed the relationship between energy wholesale markets and state policies, efforts to redesign the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act, energy security, as well as the ongoing fights in the region over natural gas pipelines. LaFleur was one of the longest-serving FERC commissioners, nominated by President Obama in 2010 and 2014 serving until August 2019. She served as Chairman from 2014-15 and as Acting Chairman from 2013-14 and during 2017.
