NEC Chairman named to the Boston Public Library Board

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has named New England Council Chairman John T. Hailer, President & CEO of Natixis Global Asset Management, to the Boston Public Library Board of Trustees. Hailer joins 7 other board members appointed by the Mayor in overseeing the Library’s annual budget of $40 million.

In announcing the appointment, Mayor Menino expressed his confidence that that Hailer’s “unique experiences as a civic and business leader make him an excellent addition to a board committed to moving the library forward.”

Boston Public Library President Amy Ryan added, “Mr. Hailer will contribute to the Library’s success with his acute business sense, along with his understanding of the importance of libraries today and for future generations.”

Since its establishment in 1848, The Boston Public Library has set an incredibly high standard, gaining recognition as one of the first publicly supported municipal libraries in America, the first public library to lend books, and the first to have a branch library.

In addition to his leadership of the NEC Board of Directors, Hailer is also involved in a variety of other community activities.  He also chairs the Board of Directors at The Home for Little Wanderers, and last year, Natixis “adopted” the John Winthrop Elementary School in Dorchester.

The New England Council congratulates our Chairman on this impressive achievement.
